Welcome to Hollywood Heels. The worlds #1 destination for glamorous sexy footwear.

Launched in 1951 by Norman Kaplan as one of the world’s top purveyors of glamorous and sexy footwear, this ultra-chic salon was located in the famous Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Serving the glam goddesses of the day such as Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, Joan Crawford, Jayne Mansfield, Rita Hayworth and Barbara Stanwyck, just to name a few. This sexy shoe emporium soon became Hollywood’s top location for celebrities and other glamorous women for many years to come.

In the fall of 1960, Norman Kaplan collaborated with one of the Hollywood icons, Mr. Fred Mellinger (aka Mr. Frederick), founder of the world renowned “Frederick’s of Hollywood” and supplied all the glamorous, sexy and fetish footwear being offered in their fabulous flagship store on Hollywood Blvd as well as though the highly renowned mail order catalog.

Soon the show was taken on the road!!

Where else but the spectacular city of Las Vegas. Starting in 1963 where the first store opened in the Desert Inn Hotel and there would eventually be 9 locations, many of which are still in operation today.

It must have been in his blood, because in 1979 his son Michael opened his own elegant salon in the Dunes Hotel, there a huge selection of fancy, flirty footwear enticed locals, showgirls, celebrities and tourists alike.

In the spring of 1983, Michael Kaplan took over the operation and ownership of the already highly successful “footwear concession” with Frederick’s of Hollywood.

From 1983 through the fall of 2006, we designed and supplied 100% of all the sexy footwear offered by Frederick’s. Under Mike, the business grew tremendously as never before seen styles started to and continued to; appear as part of the extensive offerings that became available.

For the first time, items such as pumps, sandals and boots (all designed by Mike Kaplan) became available at prices that were reasonable enough for anyone to afford.

The biggest imprint came in 1989 by way of a molded platform shoe with a 6” heel that use to be made in wood and sold for over $300 per pair, but were able to be made available via Frederick’s at prices as low as $49 and $69. This type of shoe had never existed until
it was invented by Mike Kaplan in conjunction with Robert Koransky (a local shoe manufacturer at the time)

This and other platform styles became a huge hit (especially with dancers) in Europe, Canada, and South America and all over the United States.

So once again, welcome to Hollywood Heels and enjoy browsing through our ultra-hot selection of pumps, sandals, boots, and platform and fetish items. Our shoes are not only sexy and exciting, but come with the greatest of fit and comfort found anywhere!!
